FM radio in SDRCrew: free tuning, one dongle, no frills

Among SDRCrew's tabs there is also an "old-style" receiver: no waterfall, no spectrum to read - just the frequency, the mode, and the audio starts. Designed for when you simply want to listen, not analyse.

What it does

Free tuning across the whole band your dongle covers, with FM broadcast (87.5-108 MHz) as the main use case - the classic home FM radio, but via SDR.

Multi-mode: besides FM also AM, CW, USB, LSB. With a single dongle you can go from listening to a broadcast station to monitoring a CW or SSB frequency.

A real-time S-meter to get an idea of how strong the signal you are receiving is.

A dedicated reception process (rtl_fm), light and direct: designed to stay on in the background without weighing on the machine.

Work in progress: RDS decoding (station name, RadioText) is under development - the pilot tone lock works very well, but the part that extracts the text is not reliable yet. I am working on it, it will come.

As always, free and open. Try it, listen, and if you find something wrong (or have an idea) write to me from the contacts in the Info tab. A coffee to support development is always welcome ☕.
